Joanne Davies - Solicitor

Joanne has been involved in residential conveyancing for all of her professional life. She is a specialist. She has been a HomeLegal team member since day one.

1. Why did you become a lawyer?
   I had become bored in my previous job and wanted more of a challenge. I did however enjoy working in the legal environment so it seemed a natural progression to undertake study and complete a law degree.
2. When you are not being a lawyer what do you like doing most?
   I have recently taken up ballroom and Latin American dancing and am really enjoying that. I also love to spend time with my family and going to the gym.
3. Where is your special place in the region?
   The Wairarapa – particularly Greytown and Martinborough. I love the quiet ambience of both places and the shopping and cafes are great.
4. What is your favourite shop/restaurant?
   Favourite shop: I love the Alannah Hill store in Newmarket, Auckland. Her clothes are beautiful and you don’t often see them in Wellington.
   Favourite restaurant: Arbitrageur. The food is wonderful and if you get a chance ask them to show you their wine cellar, its very extensive and worth a look.
5. How would you describe your style of practice?
   I try to ensure that my clients feel relaxed when they meet with me and are comfortable enough to ask me any questions they have on any matters of concern to them. This is very important for first home buyers who may be a bit overwhelmed by the whole process of buying their first home.
6. If you had to give a first homebuyer a single piece of advice, what would it be?
   Do not sign anything until you have spoken to your solicitor.
