HomeLegal’s latest gain has been Irish Rugby’s loss. After two years with leading Queenstown law firm Mactodd Sam’s OE included playing semi-professional rugby for Connemara in Ireland and for Odder in Denmark! Sam will be continuing his rugby playing now he is back in New Zealand.

1. Why did you become a lawyer?
   With both parents being lawyers it seemed the natural choice. I enjoy the challenges faced every day and the variety as well as achieving successful outcomes for our clients.
2. When you are not being a lawyer what do you like doing most?
   Playing a variety of sports, socialising and enjoying all that the region has to offer.
3. Where is your special place in the region?
   Wellington CBD, the waterfront; there is always plenty going on and, as I live on The Terrace a Sunday trip to the waterfront market or a stroll down Courtenay Place is always on the cards.
4. What is your favourite shop/restaurant?
   Shop: The Vault design store in Central Wellington, great for gifts or something quirky and unique for home.
   Restaurant: Ambelli, the food and wine is second to none and its tough to beat anything Mediterranean.
5. How would you describe your style of practice?
   Accessible, practical and always available to discuss any matters, looking at your particular circumstances to find a solution which can mean going outside the square somewhat.
6. If you had to give a first homebuyer a single piece of advice, what would it be?
   There is more than one "perfect" house for you, don’t be pressured by vendors.
7. What is different about the HomeLegal service that makes it so popular?
